Heartworm Update

Current Pet News A recent survey, conducted by the American Heartworm Society, found that 250,000 dogs and cats tested positive for heartworm infection nationwide in 2001. The survey was sponsored by Merial, manufacturer of the Heartgard heartworm prevention products, and was the first since the 1950s to track heartworm disease in detail. Heartworm tests performed by 18,000 veterinary clinics nationwide were analyzed to determine the results.
